Location #6....The Holy Grail of all Keokuk Geodes.  This is a very hollow Iridescent BLACK CALCITE GEODE.  This one has flashes of Green when turned in the light.  About 5 by 4.5 by 3.5 inches.  Very large for this type of Keokuk Geode.  #1 Rarest of Keokuk Geodes...

We bought most of these Red Quartz Geodes from a guy on St Francisville, Missouri.  He would let nobody hunt on his property but there is a place in Illinois you can find smaller Red Quartz Geodes.  A very large hollow museum quality Red Quartz Keokuk Geode Pair
with a single large Calcite Crystal in one half.

Location #6..A huge 8 inch very hollow very dark Brown Iridescent Calcite Keokuk Geode Pair.  This one displays a large cluster of Clear Calcites in the center as well as Brown Calcite Cubes.  This is a true Museum Quality specimen.  One of the best we have had over the years.  Very brilliant Green and Purple Flashes everywhere.

Another Museum Quality very hollow Iridescent Brown Calcite Keokuk Geode Pair.  This one is about 7 inches across.  Clear Calcites and Brown Calcite Cubes in this one.  Very brilliant flashes of Greens and Purples throughout the interior.  Notice the super rare Iron Pyrites on the Brown Calcite Cubes in the following pictures of this geode.

This top shelf Iridescent Brown Calcite Keokuk Geode Pair has some large glassy Brown Calcite Cubes with flashes of brilliant Purple.  There are also Clear to Pink Calcite secondaries.  A spectacular specimen and very rare..... 5 inches across.

a very large and very hollow Keokuk Geode weighing about 150 pounds and lined in brilliant Smoky Citrine Quartz Crystals.. Here is another Geode that we pulled from the bottom of the river, in 4 feet of water. This one was full of mud and very oxidized.  We cleaned it with super iron out and it turned out great... 


This Keokuk Geode Pair now resides in a collection in Des Moines, Iowa.  With the other half, this one weighed over 400 pounds.  Almost impossible to find anymore this size.  Found in 2008 at Location #2 in about 4 feet of water.. Similar ones can be found at Location #1 with lots of luck...........

Calcite Crystals on Smoky Quartz with tiny Pyrites.. 
We extracted this one about 4 years ago from a gray shale outcropping at the bottom of a river.  Calcite Crystals and Pyrite on gemmy Quartz.  There are also about 3 smaller unopened geodes attached to the outer shell.
